In reading the August 28th edition of the Daily Sentinel front page section B "Citizens for Five Commissioners"I found it interesting that three of the individuals on the steering committee, former State Senator "Tilman Bishop", former State Senator "Ron Teck", and Fruita Mayor Ken Henry all Republicans are in favor of expanding our County Commissioners from 3 to 5 Commissioners! In looking at the card I carry in my wallet one of the four core principles of the Republican party is "Limit Government" Why is it that these individuals feel that bigger government is better government? It should be no surprise to anyone that not all Republicans adhere to the core principles that define us as Republicans. Simply adding two more county commissioners to the Board of Commissioners does not ensure better representation nor does it ensure better County Government. I urge those of you that are interested to look into the wording of the ballot question and see for yourself if indeed you feel expanding the Board of Commissioners to Five will provide you a better lifestyle here in Mesa County or provide you with better representation. I submit to you, it will not! I urge you to vote no on Ballot question 1A for bigger Government!

Having only 3 commissioners in a county that is the size of ours does not represent us appropriately. How can it? Having 5 commissioners does not enlarge government as stated earlier in this blog, it only allows our party to maintain stability during times where our liberal constituents may have more elected candidates in these types of positions. I like the idea of having two additional positions. We can gain insight of two more individuals, have more robust resolution to issues, etc. as a result.
